After the design and control philosophy of the demonstration pilot plant were finished, the analytical campaign of emerging micropollutants without additive dosage started.
Once the reference phase has concluded, the evaluation phase of emerging micropollutants removal will begin with the dosage system. The micropollutants selected to be followed up within this project are those which have been recently included in the list of priority substances of the Water Framework Directive (WFD), among others. Some substances have found by numerous studies to accumulate in the aquatic medium, potentially endangering water ecosystems and potable water sources.
The results will be compared with removal efficiency of micropollutants without the additive dosage and concurrently it will be evaluated the socioeconomic impact and the environmental benefits of the project.
